Netflix’s upcoming Korean series The Scandal is drawing attention with the intense chemistry between Son Ye-jin, Ji Chang-wook and Nana.
Set during the Joseon era, the series follows Lady Cho (Son Ye-jin), a woman of remarkable intelligence and ambition; Cho Won (Ji Chang-wook), a notorious womanizer; and Hee-yeon (Nana), who becomes caught in a dangerous wager between the two.
The newly released teaser sets the story in motion as Lady Cho makes Cho Won a secretive proposition. Cho Won accepts the challenge of winning the heart of Hee-yeon, a virtuous widow, but what begins as a seemingly simple game gradually develops into something far more complicated. As unexpected emotions emerge, desire and deception begin to blur the boundaries of their carefully planned scheme.
Tense exchanges and lingering glances between the three characters offer a glimpse of the dangerous relationships at the heart of the story, raising questions about who is truly in control as the game unfolds.
The Scandal is a Korean reimagining of the classic French novel Dangerous Liaisons, transporting its story of seduction, desire and manipulation to the Joseon era. With elaborate traditional costumes, a richly atmospheric period setting and the subtle emotional tension created by its three leads, the series promises a distinctive take on the historical romance genre.
As love, desire and a dangerous wager draw the three characters closer together, The Scandal leaves viewers wondering where their increasingly complicated relationships will ultimately lead.
