IU Releases ‘Dear My Crazy Soulmate’ Music Video, a Heartfelt Song for Yoo In-na
IU is back with “Dear My Crazy Soulmate,” one of the double title tracks from her new digital single “From This Star,” released on September 10.
Written by IU herself, “Dear My Crazy Soulmate” has attracted particular attention for its personal connection to actress Yoo In-na, one of IU’s closest longtime friends. The song’s official introduction includes the simple dedication “To Yoo In-na,” adding another layer of meaning to its lyrics about affection, companionship and a uniquely close bond.
The official music video brings that story to life with a cinematic approach. IU transforms into a police officer and stars alongside actress Shim Dal-gi, while Na Moon-hee and Esom also appear in the video. With its character-driven narrative and carefully crafted scenes, the music video plays more like a short film than a traditional K-pop performance video.
As the title “Dear My Crazy Soulmate” suggests, the song explores the affection and deep connection shared with someone who has become an irreplaceable part of your life. IU’s delicate songwriting and emotional storytelling give the track an intimate quality, while the film-like music video expands that sentiment into a larger visual story.
The release once again highlights IU’s ability to combine music and storytelling, creating a song that feels both deeply personal and widely relatable.
